Our Experience
Rotomolded coolers keep ice forever, but they’re heavy even when empty. The RTIC 72 QT Ultra-Light tries to split the difference, keep most of the insulation, shed the weight, and add wheels so you’re not throwing out your back hauling it to the campsite.
We loaded it with ice and drinks on a Friday afternoon and drove to a campground. By Sunday evening, there was still slush at the bottom. Not the 10-day claim on the box, but we were opening it constantly. For a weekend trip with normal cooler traffic, it’s more than enough.
The wheels are the standout feature. They’re wide enough to handle gravel paths without sinking, and the telescoping handle feels sturdy, no wobble or flex. Loading it into a truck bed is noticeably easier than heaving a YETI Tundra 65.
One thing: the latches take some force to pop open. Not a flaw exactly, just something to know. They seal tight, which is the point.
