Amazfit Active 2 Round Review: An $80 Smartwatch That Looks Like It Costs More

Key Features
Classic Round Design
Looks like a real watch, not a fitness band. The 1.32-inch AMOLED display sits in a slim metal case that works with dress shirts or gym clothes.
Alexa Built-In
Ask Alexa questions, set timers, and control smart home devices from your wrist. Works offline too for basic commands.
120+ Sport Modes
GPS tracking for outdoor runs, cycling, and hiking. Auto-detects walking and running without manual mode selection.
10-Day Battery
Lasts about 10 days with regular use. GPS-heavy days drain faster, but normal daily tracking barely dents the battery.
Our Experience
Most smartwatches under $100 look like toys. Chunky plastic bodies, rubbery straps, screens that wash out in sunlight. The Active 2 Round breaks that pattern. It’s slim, metal-framed, and comes with a leather strap option that makes it look like a watch your dad would wear, in a good way.
The AMOLED display is sharp and bright enough for outdoor reading. I kept the always-on display turned off to save battery, and even then, the raise-to-wake was fast enough that I never felt like I was waiting.
Health tracking covers the basics well, heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep stages, stress. Nothing here will replace a dedicated recovery tracker, but for casual fitness monitoring, it’s more than enough. Step counting was accurate within about 5% of my phone’s count.
Alexa integration is a nice bonus at this price. I used it mostly for setting kitchen timers and checking weather. It’s not as fast as an Echo, but it works.
Where it stumbles: notifications. You can read texts and see app alerts, but replying is limited. And the Zepp app takes some getting used to, it’s functional but not intuitive for first-time users.
Pros & Cons
What We Liked
- Looks like a $200+ watch for $80
- 10-day battery beats most competitors at any price
- AMOLED display is bright and responsive
- Built-in Alexa and GPS at this price point is rare
Worth Knowing
- Notification replies are limited compared to Apple Watch or Pixel Watch
- Zepp app takes a few days to learn
- No cellular option, phone must be nearby for calls
Final Verdict
The Amazfit Active 2 Round is the best-looking smartwatch you can buy for $80. It doesn’t try to compete with Apple Watch on apps or Garmin on GPS accuracy, it focuses on looking good, lasting long, and covering the health tracking basics. If you want a smartwatch that doesn’t scream “tech gadget,” this is the one.
