Best Mini Projectors Under $300 in 2026: 5 Picks That Don’t Look Cheap

Mini projectors used to be a punchline. Squinty image, sounds like a hairdryer, batteries that died in 45 minutes. The good news is that the budget end of the market got a lot better in the last year or two. There are now plenty of options under $300 that actually look good in a real room.
I’ve tried a bunch of them over the past few months. Backyard movie nights, dorm-room setups for my nephew, a kitchen counter projection just to see if it would work. These five are the ones I’d actually buy.
1. XGIMI MoGo 2 — Best Overall Under $300
About $279, sometimes drops to $239. The MoGo 2 hits the sweet spot. 720p native (with decent upscaling), 400 ANSI lumens, real Android TV built in. The auto keystone and autofocus aren’t gimmicks, they actually work, and that saves you ten minutes every time you move it.
Speakers are surprisingly punchy for the size. Battery’s not amazing (around 2 hours), so plan to plug it in for a full movie. But for a budget pick that you can take to a friend’s house or set up in the backyard, it’s hard to beat.

2. ANKER Nebula Capsule 3 — Best for Travel
The Capsule 3 is the size of a beer can. Runs about $269. Image quality isn’t as bright as the XGIMI (200 lumens), so it’s really a dark-room projector. But the form factor is unbeatable. Toss it in a backpack, run it off the built-in battery, point it at a camping tent wall.
Sound is decent for what it is. Streaming apps work right out of the box. If portability matters more than peak brightness, this is the pick.

3. WEMAX Dice — Best Picture Under $300
Around $299 when its on sale. The Dice gives you 700 ANSI lumens which is a noticeable step up from the others on this list. You can actually use it with a little ambient light, which the cheaper picks really cant handle.
The catch is its bigger and not battery powered. So its more of a “lives on a shelf” projector than a “throw it in a bag” one. If youre setting up a regular movie room, this is the better long-term buy.

4. YABER V10 — Best Cheap Option
If you can find it under $200 (and you usually can), the YABER V10 is the right call. 1080p native, plenty bright for a dim room, and the built-in speakers actually work. Theres no smart TV OS so you’ll need a Fire Stick or Chromecast plugged into the HDMI, but for $180-ish total including the stick, you’ve got a real living room setup.
The fan is louder than the more expensive picks. You hear it during quiet movie scenes. Worth knowing.

5. KODAK Luma 150 — Smallest Pick
This one’s a niche pick. Pocket sized, around $250. Only 60 ANSI lumens, so its definitely a dark-room-only device. But the size is wild — its smaller than a deck of cards. Great for travel, kids rooms, or a desk-side ambient setup. Not for movie night with a group.

What to Watch Out For
A few things the spec sheets dont tell you:
- Lumens numbers are wildly inconsistent. ANSI lumens are the real standard. If a projector lists “10,000 LED lumens” but doesnt mention ANSI, assume its overstating by 3x or more.
- Native resolution matters more than supported resolution. A “4K compatible” projector that’s actually 720p native looks like 720p.
- Built-in batteries are nice but most projectors only last 1.5 to 2 hours on them. For a full movie you’ll be plugged in anyway.
- Auto-keystone and autofocus are huge for setup time. Worth paying a bit more to get them.
Quick Picks Summary
For most people, the XGIMI MoGo 2 is the right buy. For travel, get the Nebula Capsule 3. For the best picture in a fixed setup, the WEMAX Dice. For cheap, the YABER V10. The KODAK is fun if you specifically want pocketable.
