SwitchBot Lock Pro Review: A Smarter Smart Lock That Mounts Over Your Deadbolt

Key Features
Mounts Over Your Existing Deadbolt
No drilling, no locksmith, the motor grips your current thumb-turn and spins it for you. Install in about ten minutes with adhesive tape.
Five Ways to Unlock
Fingerprint, PIN code, NFC card, app, or the original key. The optional keypad reads fingerprints in under half a second.
Matter and Apple Home Ready
Pair it with the SwitchBot Hub 2 and the Lock Pro shows up in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings.
Nine Months on Four AAs
The new motor uses less power than the original Lock, and the battery indicator gives you a four-week heads-up before you need to swap.
Our Experience
We installed the Lock Pro on a standard interior deadbolt in our test rental, the kind of door where you can’t actually replace the hardware. Setup took eleven minutes from box to working. The motor is noticeably faster and quieter than the original SwitchBot Lock, with less of that buzzy ratcheting sound that the first-gen had.
Auto-lock works as advertised, set it to lock thirty seconds after the door closes and you stop thinking about it. The fingerprint keypad is the killer add-on. Reading speed is fast enough that we never had to fumble for a phone. The one drawback is the indoor mount sticks out about an inch and a half from the door, visible, not pretty.
