SwitchBot Hub 2 Review: The Matter Compatible Hub That Finally Ties Your Smart Home Together

Key Features
Matter Compatible
Works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings out of the box. No bridge hopping.
IR Blaster Built In
Controls your TV, AC, fan, and any IR remote device, turning dumb electronics into smart ones.
Temp & Humidity Sensor
Big e ink display shows room conditions at a glance and triggers automations when it gets too warm or dry.
Smart Buttons
Two programmable buttons on the front for one tap routines, like all lights off or good night mode.
Our Experience
This replaced our old SwitchBot Hub Mini and the upgrade is obvious from the first day. The e ink screen is genuinely useful, we glance at it instead of pulling out our phone to check humidity in the living room. The IR blaster range covers our whole open floor plan living room, so the TV and AC both respond from across the couch.
Matter support is the big deal here. We paired it to Apple Home and Google Home simultaneously with no drama, and our SwitchBot curtain motors now show up in both ecosystems. The two physical buttons are the sleeper feature, we set one for “bedtime” and one for “movie mode” and both our household actually uses them.
Pros & Cons
What We Liked
- Matter support that actually works
- E ink display is useful, not just a gimmick
- IR range covers a whole living room
- Physical buttons encourage the rest of the household to use the automations
Worth Knowing
- Needs power adapter, not battery powered
- Still requires SwitchBot app to set up even on Matter
- Not a full Zigbee hub, so not a replacement for SmartThings
