Mobile Pixels Duex Plus DS Review: A Slide Out Second Screen for Your Laptop

Key Features
13.3 inch 1080p IPS
A full HD second screen that slides out from behind your laptop lid. Colors look clean and the viewing angles hold up.
One cable setup
USB C carries video and power. There is a Mini HDMI port too if your machine is picky.
Auto rotate
A built in sensor flips the screen when you swing it into portrait mode. Handy for reading long docs.
Travel friendly
It magnets onto the back of your laptop and adds about a pound. We barely noticed it in a bag.
Our Experience
We ran the Duex Plus DS on a 14 inch laptop for a work week. Setup was quick. Peel the magnetic mount, stick it to the lid, plug in the USB C cable and the screen wakes up. No driver hunting, no software install on Windows.
The slide out panel is the whole point and it works well. Pull it to the side and you have a real dual monitor setup at a coffee shop. We kept Slack and a browser on the second screen while the main display stayed clear for actual work. Productivity went up, no question.
It isnt all perfect. The hinge feels a little loose after a few days of opening and closing, and at full brightness the laptop battery drains faster since the screen pulls power over USB. Worth keeping a charger nearby on long sessions.

Final Verdict
For anyone who works on the move and misses a second monitor, the Duex Plus DS earns its spot in the bag. The hinge could be tighter and it sips your battery, but the convenience of a slide out screen that travels with your laptop is hard to beat.
