Amazfit T-Rex 3 Review: A Rugged GPS Smartwatch Built to Outlast You

Key Features
Built Like a Tank
Military-grade case, stainless bezel and 10 ATM water rating. Survives drops, dust and pool laps without flinching.
27-Day Battery
Almost a full month between charges in typical use. Even with GPS workouts most days, we still pulled close to two weeks.
Offline Maps + Dual GPS
Built-in offline maps and dual-band GNSS that holds a signal in dense woods. No phone required on the trail.
Freezerproof to -22°F
Stays responsive in real cold weather, which most smartwatches choke on. Built for ski days and winter trail runs.
Our Experience
We took the T-Rex 3 on a long weekend of hiking, paddleboarding and one accidental kayak swim. It came back without a scratch on the AMOLED, GPS dropped lock zero times, and battery only fell about 18% across three days of heavy use. For people who hate babying their gear, this is the kind of watch you actually forget you’re wearing.
The new offline maps are the real upgrade over the T-Rex 2. Pinch-to-zoom topo data right on the wrist, with breadcrumb tracking that saved us once when a marked trail turned into a logging road. It’s not Garmin Fenix polish, but it’s also not Fenix money.
Pros & Cons
What We Liked
- Genuinely rugged build that feels overbuilt for the price
- Offline maps work without a phone connection
- Battery life is in another league
- AMOLED is sharp and bright outdoors
Worth Knowing
- 50mm case is chunky on smaller wrists
- Zepp app is decent but not as polished as Garmin Connect
- No music storage at this price point
