Most mesh WiFi systems promise to cover your whole house and then leave you with dead spots in the guest bedroom. The TP-Link Deco XE75 is one of the few that actually delivers on that promise, and it does it with WiFi 6E which gives you a dedicated 6GHz band that most of your neighbors arent using yet.

I set up the two pack in a 2,400 square foot house and forgot about it. Thats pretty much the best compliment you can give a router.

Why WiFi 6E Matters

WiFi 6E adds a third band at 6GHz. Most WiFi 6 routers use 2.4GHz and 5GHz, which means they’re sharing airspace with every other router, baby monitor, and garage door opener in your neighborhood. The 6GHz band is basically empty right now, so your devices get a clean, fast connection without fighting for bandwidth.

The Deco XE75 uses that 6GHz band as a dedicated backhaul between the two units, which means the connection between your mesh nodes stays fast even when a bunch of devices are streaming or gaming at the same time. Thats a big deal if you’ve ever noticed your mesh system slowing down during peak hours.

WiFi 6E Tri Band
2.4GHz + 5GHz + dedicated 6GHz backhaul for faster mesh connections
5,500 sq ft Coverage
Two pack covers most homes without dead spots
AI Driven Mesh
Automatically routes devices to the best band and node
200+ Devices
Handles smart home setups without breaking a sweat

Setup and Performance

Setup through the Deco app took about 8 minutes. You plug in the first unit, scan a QR code, name your network, and then add the second node. No messing with IP addresses or logging into a web portal. It just works.

Speed tests were solid. I was getting around 600 Mbps on the 5GHz band about 15 feet from the nearest node, which is close to my ISP’s advertised speed. The 2.4GHz band held steady at about 90 Mbps at the far end of the house. No dropouts during video calls, and my kids streaming on three different tablets didnt cause any hiccups.

Smart Home Performance

With about 40 smart devices on the network including a handful of smart plugs, cameras, and a robot vacuum, the Deco XE75 handled it all without drama. The AI Driven Mesh feature automatically puts each device on the best band, so your security camera isnt hogging bandwidth from your laptop.

Common Questions

Do I need WiFi 6E devices to benefit from this router?
No. Your WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 devices still connect on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands like normal. The 6GHz band is used as a dedicated mesh backhaul, which makes the whole network faster even if none of your devices support 6E directly.
Can I add more Deco units later?
Yes. You can mix and match different Deco models in the same mesh network. Adding a third XE75 or even a cheaper Deco unit extends coverage without starting over.
Is the HomeShield subscription worth it?
The free tier covers basic antivirus and network scanning. The Pro tier adds parental controls, QoS, and real time threat protection. If you have kids or a lot of IoT devices, the Pro tier is useful but not strictly necessary.
The Verdict
The TP-Link Deco XE75 is the mesh system I’d recommend to anyone whos tired of dead spots and slow connections. The dedicated 6GHz backhaul makes a real difference, setup is painless, and it handles a houseful of devices without breaking a sweat. At $250 for the two pack, its a solid investment for anyone who takes their home network seriously.
